With so many different products, different types of hair, environmental differences etc…it is hard out in these natural hair streets! I know for me when I first went natural I wanted my curls to pop and look juicy SOOOO bad! They didn’t though 😩 I don’t know why my hair would not do a wash and go. Big Betty was not going! Now that I’ve learned more I know why! What I was using and how I was applying it was the reason why my curls wouldn’t do right. I remember washing my hair and my curls would look so good! Then as soon as I applied product and it dried…”Welp I guess it’s going up in a puff…or I guess I’ll twist it out” was always what would happen.
Everything about natural hair can be SOOO overwhelming but once you find what works 🙌🏾 Hallelujah! Amen! Let’s get it! It makes you wanna say “where have you been all of my life?!?!” But the journey to wanting to find the perfect product had me buying up anything I thought might work. Y’all! My cabinets are overflowing with a different brands of products. I now use Mielle…so the stuff that I used and it didn’t work is still just chilling in my storage area 🤦🏾♀️. I think what sucks is when I buy them I have to get most or all of the line otherwise it doesn’t give the true results… right?! Mixing and matching won’t always give you the full truth about a product. So after they don’t work 😩 I’m stuck with all of these products looking like a product junkie😳 The struggle is REAL! 😂
Oh yeah the catch is…after you find one that works your product might act brand new on you if you go somewhere with different environmental conditions. 😒 SO yeah there’s that….so make sure you take some pictures before it looks like you didn’t even do your hair 😂
Ok, ok, ok, I’m ranting and saying all of this to say…just like with anything else, over time you can experience some burnout. It happens! You know what!? That’s ok🤷🏾♀️ You’re not alone! Take some time! Get a protective style like braids, a sew in, or just something that keeps styling your beautiful curls off of your mind. I wrote this piece because I wanted to share that although I LOVE my natural hair, I have that burnt out feeling sometimes too! So now that you know that you’re not alone with this feeling, go ahead and woo shaaaaa, shake it off, and keep rocking that crown! We’ve GOT THIS! 💜
